In the final game of their three-game home stand, the Raptors are looking to secure a win against tonight’s matchup, the Orlando Magic. The Raptors are looking to bounce back after a devastating loss and secure at least one win during their current Tampa stand.
This will be the Raptors’ first look at the 2021 Magic squad that share a similar record at 8-12 and sit just one spot above them in the Eastern Conference. Both teams are coming off losses on Friday night and looking to close the weekend on a strong note.
Players to watch in tonight’s matchup include star center Nikola Vucevic, a threat in the paint and on the perimeter. Expect a bounce back game for Vucevic, who may take advantage of the lack of size in the paint, as he currently is averaging 23.0 points per game, shooting 48.7% from the field and 44.6% from beyond the arc. Also notable is former Raptor Terrence Ross, who may be on the beginning of a hot streak and hungry against his former team. He was the lone bright spot in Friday night’s loss for the Magic against the Los Angeles Clippers, with 24 points on 8-12 shooting off the bench.
One key factor for the Raptors ahead of tonight’s game is defensive consistency. The Raptors are 0-10 when trailing after the third quarter and need to find a way to maintain their defensive composure to avoid being down by large deficits going into the fourth.
With OG Anunoby (calf) ruled out and Norman Powell (Quadriceps) listed as doubtful to return for tonight’s game, sights are set on Pascal Siakam to keep it rolling on offence from Friday night’s matchup with the Kings, where Siakam had 32 points on 55% shooting. Also, expect role player Yuta Watanabe to see more action, coming off a career game and providing a big spark for the Raps late.
